Artist Statement

The Oregon Coast is full of beauty and also, at times, full of terror. The waves have no mercy and will hold none of their power back. When walking coastal trails you can hear the thunder roaring under your feet as the mighty ocean crashes repeatedly against the rocky cliffs. Here, near Thor’s Well, the ocean carves out the rock and forms a jetty of rocking and roaring currents. This shot was taken midday at one of the surges pushing through these jetty’s, a beautiful contrast of light ocean blues against the dark rock. It reminds me of a painting, a moment of life to remind us of nature’s beautiful power.
